Department Meetings
If you cannot attend a department meeting, you must notify me via email and arrange for a make-up.
TechLife App
As per the mandate from central office regarding the TechLife App/Self-Assessment...
If you are having issues with the app, you must contact Dan Molczyk at ext 4144 (or email him). Please give him the details of the problem and what the error messages state.
If you cannot load the TechLife App for some reason and must use the paper Covid forms, please email them directly to Silvia Favaro.
You must submit your response prior to 7:56 am every day.
SGOs
Please have your spreadsheets with pre-assessment scores entered into MLP by Thanksgiving Break. Also, please make sure the scores are recorded in PS as well.
Make sure you have 2 statements entered. These are the options:
- 2 general SGOs - you must then use 2 different class periods and the statements must indicate what rubric the task reflects (eg. Overall Writing Rubric or Grade 10 department writing rubric, etc...).
- 1 specific and 1 general - You can use one class with 2 different tasks/rubrics but you need 2 different entries on your spreadsheet to reflect the 2 different tasks and grades for each.
- 2 specific - you can use either one or two classes.
With any of these options, the statements need to be clear as to what the rubric/task is and there needs to be 2 separate entries/tabs on your SGO spreadsheet for the scores. Please make sure the tabs are labeled clearly and indicate what SGO statement the scores correspond to.
PGPs
Make sure you entered 3 - two departmental ones and one personal one. Please make sure you fill out all of the sections of the form on MLP.

• Please assign practice units for skills in need of remediation and quiz the students at the end of each skill unit. When entering grades for these assignments in PS, please reference NRI in the assignment title.
• Use unit diagnostics if you wish.
• End of Trimester skills assessment - choice (create your own based on your data evaluation & student performance over the course of the trimester) or develop a common assessment with team members…. Administer and enter grades before the end of the trimester, label clearly as “Trimester NRI Assessment”
Technology/Laptops - Here are a few suggestions from IT that may help with lagtime and navigation speed on teacher laptops and student Chromebooks. Please make these suggestions to your students as well...
- To help speed things up, please close out as many open tabs as you can, this can slow down WebEx meetings and navigation in general.
- The laptops should be used on a flat surface, nothing soft or plush such as a bed. The air needs to be able to circulate around the computer in order to keep it as cool as possible.
- Fully shut down the computer each night. Hold the power button down for a full 10 seconds so that the computer fully shuts down and doesn't just go into sleep mode. It is suggested that we, and the students, do this every night.
- I was at the Fire Academy one day troubleshooting an issue and noticed that the students all had about 10-15 tabs open at once, so please tell them that they need to close them out and only keep open what pertains to a current class.
